Dr. Sandra Barker received her Bachelor's degree in Biology with honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1976. In 1981, she received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. After completing her internship in the Optometry/Ophthalmology Service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Dr. Barker practiced for two years in Houston, Texas prior to co-founding Eye Associates of Winter Park in 1985.

Although she sees patients of all ages for comprehensive eye care, her area of expertise is specialty contact lenses including the new corneal refractive therapy. Dr. Barker has conducted several contact lens studies for national manufacturers while in clinical practice.

In her community, Dr. Barker has been a leader, serving on The Board of Directors of the Greater Seminole Chamber of Commerce, The Private Industry Council of Seminole, The Board of Trustees of the public broadcasting stations of WMFE and the Board of Excel Alternatives, Inc. a private nonprofit alternative school. She currently serves as co-chairman of the steering committee of Speaking of Women's Health, a women's health forum held annually in Central Florida.
