Our response to COVID-19 – How we’re supporting our patients.
We really hoped that we would be writing you today to say we are reopening on Monday, May 4, but even though Governor DeSantis has initiated Phase One of the reopening of the State of Florida, we are still operating under his original mandate for healthcare providers. This mandate was not rescinded and does not expire until Friday, May 8.
After also carefully watching and analyzing the progress and transmissibility of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Florida, we have made the decision to reopen the office to serve you on Monday, May 11. As we hope you know, we always want to do the right thing for our patients and make the right decisions. We have been a part of this community for over 35 years. Through it all, uppermost in all of our minds is the safety of all concerned: patients, doctors, and staff. We have been carefully considering developments over the last month and believe that the time is right to begin caring for our patients again in person.
One of the significant factors in our decision deals with the increase in knowledge over the last few weeks of how to safely interact with patients. We will strictly follow CDC guidelines, including requiring masks for patients, doctors and staff at all times. We will respect social distancing recommendations. We have sought counsel from other doctors across the country and we have participated in numerous webinars and virtual meetings gleaning the best practices from others in varied practice environments. As a result, we want you to know that we will be putting in numerous protocols that will both allow us to take care of you while at the same time protecting you.
Because of these measures, things will not look the same as they did before the pandemic. Everything from our interaction with you on your initial phone call to how you are scheduled, and all the way through to your final check out will have a different appearance.
So, we ask for your patience.
If we had to reschedule you during these past months, forgive us. We’re ready to take care of you now. Please know that anything that we ask of you is motivated by our desire to care for you and protect you as we would our closest family member. It was that desire that has been our motivation from the beginning of this outbreak and will continue to guide our decisions.
