Dr. Gary Barker, Board Certified Optometric Physician

Gary L. Barker, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Gary Barker is a Board-Certified Optometric Physician. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology, with Departmental Honors in Biology, at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry, where he was awarded the Pediatric Clinician of the Year award. After graduation from UHCO, Dr. Barker served as a Research Optometrist at the University of Texas Medical Science Center-Houston in the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS), one of the first studies of laser treatment of diabetic eye disease. He then returned to his native state of Florida, where along with his wife, Dr. Sandra Barker, he co-founded the Eye Associates of Winter Park in 1985.

Dr. Barker provides medical eye care for patients of all ages, including diabetic patients, patients with glaucoma, patients with macular degeneration, as well as patient with other ocular and systemic diseases.

Dr. Barker is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the Central Florida Society of Optometric Physicians, the Florida Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. He is a past President of the Florida Optometric Association. Well-respected by his peers, Dr. Barker is a past recipient of the Florida Optometrist of the Year. Dr. Barker is an active member of his church, currently serving as a member of the Pre-School and Kindergarten Board and is a past member of the Diaconate. He and his wife, Dr. Sandra Barker, are the proud parents of their son, who is currently living in Georgia. In their spare time, Dr. Barker and his wife love to travel, hike and bike.

Sandra H. Barker, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Sandra Barker is a Board-Certified Optometric Physician. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. After completing her internship in the Optometry/Ophthalmology Service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Dr. Barker practiced for two years in Houston prior to co-founding Eye Associates of Winter Park with her husband, Dr. Gary Barker, in 1985.

While Dr. Barker sees patients of all ages for comprehensive eye care, her area of expertise is specialty contact lenses including Corneal Refractive Therapy and contact lenses for patients with diseased corneas such as keratoconus or post-refractive surgery complications.

Dr. Barker is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the Central Florida Society of Optometric Physicians, the Florida Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association.

A leader in her community, Dr. Barker has served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Seminole Chamber of Commerce, the Private Industry Council of Seminole, the Board of Trustees of the local PBS station WMFE, and the Board of Excel Alternatives, Inc. a private nonprofit alternative school. 

Dr. Barker is very active in her church, where she has chaired many Boards in past years. She currently serves on the Board of Christian Outreach. She and her husband, Dr. Gary Barker have one grown son who lives in New York. In her spare time, Dr. Barker and her husband enjoy hiking, biking and travel.

Kaitlyn Kelley, O.D.

Dr. Kaitlyn Kelley is a Residency Trained Optometric Physician. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Chemistry from Carlow University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry and was awarded the Pediatric and Binocular Vision Clinical Excellence Award. After graduation, Dr. Kelley completed a residency in Primary Care with emphasis in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision at Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Kelley is currently seeking fellowship in both the American Academy of Optometry and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

Dr. Kelley sees patients of all ages for comprehensive eye examinations. Her area of expertise is in pediatric care, binocular vision anomalies, learning disorders, neuro-rehabilitation, and special populations. Dr. Kelley is a proud participant of the InfantSee program, which provides free eye examinations for children between the ages of 6-12 months.

Dr. Kelley is an active member in the optometric community. She is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, College of Optometrists in Vision Development, Optometric Extension Program, Florida Optometric Association, and Central Florida Society of Optometric Physicians.

Dr. Kelley is originally a Pittsburgh native and is a die-hard sports fan. She is very active in the gym, outdoor biking, and loves to read. She has a Maine Coon cat named Leo, which she will show you many pictures of if you ask!

Tawni Cashon, O.D.

Dr. Tawni Cashon is a Board-Certified Optometric Physician. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from The Ohio State University and then continued on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. During her optometric education, Dr. Cashon was one of a very select group of students to be inducted into both International Optometric Honor Societies, Beta Sigma Kappa and Gold Key.

Dr. Cashon practices full scope optometry, diagnosing and treating ocular disorders and diseases in patients of all ages, with a special interest in contact lenses. Dr. Cashon enjoys prescribing many types of contact lenses including soft lenses for astigmatism and presbyopia, as well as rigid lenses such as scleral contacts and orthokeratology for myopia control and advanced ocular diseases. She has served as a clinical investigator for contact lens studies/clinical trials, allowing her to offer new and innovative products and treatments for her patients. Dr. Cashon is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, and the Central Florida Society of Optometric Physicians.

Dr. Cashon spent four summers as the Head Coach of the Bryan Swim Team, in her hometown of Bryan, Ohio, where she coached over 100 swimmers each season between the ages of 8-19 years old.

On a personal note, Dr. Cashon and her husband enjoy spending time with their two Aussies, Archie and Bindi, exploring unique breweries, and avidly yelling at the TV while cheering on their favorite sports teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Go Bucks!

Jason Wallace, O.D.

Dr. Jason Wallace received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Indiana University.  He then completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at Indiana University School of Optometry.  During his time at I.U. he participated in several VOSH eyecare mission trips to Mexico.  His clinical rotations included Orlando, FL, Quantico, VA, and Guanajuato, Mexico.  During his free time he loves spending time with family, playing guitar, cycling, walking, and swimming.
